Organic Produce Processing and Distribution Stages

Farm Picking
During farm picking, organic produce is harvested by hand or machine, ensuring minimal damage. Workers must follow strict sanitary practices, including wearing gloves and maintaining cleanliness to prevent contamination. Regular handwashing and proper restroom facilities are essential to uphold food safety standards.

Trimming Produce
At the processing center, produce is trimmed to remove any damaged or undesirable parts. This stage requires sanitized equipment and surfaces to prevent cross-contamination. Workers must adhere to hygiene protocols, including wearing clean uniforms and using sanitized tools to ensure food safety.

Washing and Drying
Washing involves rinsing produce with clean water to remove dirt and contaminants. After washing, produce are place through blow dryers to prevent moisture-related spoilage. Sanitary practices, such as using clean water and sanitized drying equipment, are crucial to ensure the safety and quality of the food.

Gov’t Certified Inspector
Food processing inspectors monitor compliance with safety regulations and organic standards. They conduct inspections to verify that facilities maintain sanitary conditions and that products are correctly labeled. Inspectors ensure that all processes meet the Jamaican, Canadian, USDA, and UK Organic Standards, safeguarding consumer health.
Sorting and Grading
In sorting and grading, produce is categorized based on size, quality, and ripeness. This process requires clean surfaces and tools to avoid contamination. Workers must follow hygiene protocols, ensuring that only safe, high-quality products reach consumers while maintaining organic integrity.
Packaging, Boxing, and Shrink Wrap
Packaging involves placing produce in containers that protect it during transport. Shrink wrapping is often used to seal packages. All packaging materials must be food-safe and sanitized. Workers must ensure that packaging processes comply with food safety regulations to prevent contamination.

Customs Declaration
For international shipments, customs declaration is necessary to comply with import/export regulations. This includes providing documentation that verifies the organic status of the produce. Proper labeling and adherence to safety standards are essential to facilitate smooth customs clearance and ensure compliance with organic certification.
Ozone Gas Container Loading and Sealed
Ozone gas containers are used to sanitize produce without chemicals. Ozone effectively kills bacteria and pathogens while maintaining organic integrity. The process requires careful monitoring to ensure that ozone levels are safe for food contact, adhering to food safety regulations
